Sharing Love and Giving Back in Our Community | February Newsletter

Dear Friends of the Dublin Food Pantry,

As Valentine’s Day approaches this weekend, I want to reflect on what it means to share love and compassion with others. We witness acts of kindness and love in action every day from our volunteers, community partners, and donors of all ages. When you give from the heart, it is felt deeply by the recipient of your selfless actions. For individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in our community, the Dublin Food Pantry is a place where you will always be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

For 50 years, the Dublin Food Pantry has been a welcoming beacon of hope for thousands of individuals and families during times of crisis. We have not only served food, but we have served that food with love and compassion in our hearts. In 2025, the Pantry served 10,487 households, including 3,482 children. We cannot do this vital work without caring and compassionate people choosing to take action. I love the following quote by Cesar Chavez:

The people who give you their food give you their hearts.

Let’s celebrate this season of love by sharing our hearts and feeding the hungry in our community.

Peace,

Community Love in Action

Our community shows they care in many ways, and over the past few weeks, it’s been especially clear through the dedication of our volunteers. Even in cold temperatures and winter weather, they continue to show up for their neighbors, welcoming clients and helping ensure families have access to food with dignity and respect.

Together, our volunteerslocalpartners, and donors make this work possible, creating meaningful impact for neighbors who turn to the Dublin Food Pantry in times of crisis.

Compassion Starts Early

Members of a CCYHA Blue Jackets team recently spent time at the Dublin Food Pantry, showing what compassion looks like at a young age. In addition to donating 228 pounds of food, the team took a tour of the Pantry and rolled up their sleeves to prepare meal kits and birthday bags for families we serve.

Recently, students from all three Dublin high schools came together during their annual bowling tri-match competition to collect canned food for the Dublin Food Pantry. Together, they donated a total of 422.4 pounds.

The time, energy, and generosity shown by these students are a powerful reminder that caring for neighbors and giving back is possible at any age.

Support Starts in the Neighborhood

The Neighborhood FoodShare Program continues to show how powerful it can be when neighbors come together. Jeff and Helen Davidson helped launch the program in their Jerome Village Epcon community, where neighbors came together to collect 4,197 pounds of food and personal care items in just seven Friday porch pickups.

Another Neighborhood FoodShare at Sawmill Commons, organized by Pantry volunteer Jackie Humphrey, collected 625 pounds of food, showing the impact this community-led program can have.

More Than Food. More Than 50 Years.

As part of celebrating our 50th anniversary, the Dublin Food Pantry recently launched More Than Food. More Than 50 Years., a campaign that reflects what the Pantry has always been about.

For 50 years, food has been the foundation of our work. But hunger is more than an empty stomach, and when neighbors are fed, they gain more than nourishment.

They gain stability, dignity, and the reassurance that their community cares.

Join us to celebrate 50 years of More Than Food at the Bounty at Bridge Park on September 20, 2026.
