Thank You to DFP Board Chairs

Gene Pavell will be starting his term this month as the Chair of the Dublin Food Pantry (DFP) Board of Directors. Beginning his fourth year on the Board, he has also served year-long terms as Board Secretary and Vice-Chair.

“Dublin Food Pantry will continue to work with community partners to connect people with needed food and personal essentials. With service numbers increasing and all regularly scheduled fundraisers canceled due to the pandemic – our Board is always looking at creative ways to operate efficiently and safely. Our pantry’s dedicated volunteers continually impress with their work ethic and kindness. And our staff provide in-house leadership with compassion and diligence,” Gene noted.

Working in Dublin for the past 15 years and currently at NetJets, Gene is active in the Dublin community. He is a graduate of the Leadership Dublin Executive Program presented by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. He served on the project team that founded the Dublin Corporate Challenge.

Gene and his wife, Abby, have lived in Dublin for nearly twenty-five years. Their three children, Clare, Leo and Frances, attended St. Brigid of Kildare. Currently, two are attending Bishop Watterson High School and the oldest is at the Ohio State University.

Five-year Board Leadership Program

The Board has an orderly transition process that has served Dublin Food Pantry well. Leaders serve a total of five years – taking on the role of Board Secretary and Vice-Chair before serving as Chair. The fifth year of service as an advisor helps with board continuity. Their passion, leadership and volunteer commitment makes it possible for DFP to serve so many so well.

Former Past Chair Lisa Patt-McDaniel has completed five years of Board service and will continue to serve in a special-projects capacity.

Soley Hernandez completed her term as pantry Board Chair in September. She will continue to serve in an advisory role of Past Chair for her fifth year of Board service.

Reflecting on her service, she commented, “Although serving in the role of Chair of the Dublin Food Pantry Board amidst a pandemic can be challenging, it has been equally rewarding and inspiring due to the flexibility and dedication of our team. The pandemic has shed a light on the need in the Dublin community and we are happy to serve new families each month in fulfilling our mission to provide food to those in need.”
