Dear Friends of the Dublin Food Pantry,
A few weeks ago, my grandson asked if we could watch The Lorax, a Dr. Seuss movie. The hero of the story is a determined young boy named Ted Wiggins, who does everything he can, often against very powerful adults, to bring live trees back to his town after they were destroyed by selfish decisions. With the support of his grandmother, Ted does not let anything deter him from his quest and ultimately succeeds in planting trees throughout his community.
After Ted provides this extraordinary gift to mankind, he is told, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
My grandson wondered why I was crying at the end of the movie, but of course, the adults reading this message understand why those words made me emotional. It is with that same spirit that I want to express our gratitude to our volunteers, donors, board members, and community partners who choose each day to care a whole awful lot. You inspire us daily, and we look forward to celebrating 50 years of service with you in 2026.
As we ring in the new year, we are sharing a few examples of recent acts of kindness from people of all ages who continue to make our community stronger.
With gratitude-

We see you, Dublin
This holiday season, our community came together to build holiday breakfast kits to help ensure students in the Dublin City Schools have access to food when school is not in session.
The City of Dublin’s Leadership Team visited the Pantry for a tour and packed 450 holiday breakfast kits. The Dublin AM Rotary also packed an additional 500 holiday breakfast kits to support students during the break.
The Dublin Police Department Student Resource Officers helped make sure the breakfast kits reached students by delivering them to schools across Dublin.

Kids Helping Kids
Across Dublin, students of all ages are finding ways to support their neighbors and make a difference in their community.
- Boy Scout Troop 3888: Packed 89 birthday bags for other kids
- Sells Middle School: Planning a supply drive for the Dublin Food Pantry
- Bishop Elementary School: Mrs. Traber’s 4th grade class raised $5,000 through a penny war to benefit that Dublin Food Pantry
- Abraham Depp Elementary School: Hosted a donation drive, with kindergarten students raising $235
Thank you to these students, families, and schools for showing what it means to care for others and give back to at a young age.

Neighbors Supporting Neighbors
This season, the Dublin community continues to step up to support their neighbors.
Recently, Susan and Dave Robenalt hosted a holiday party in their neighborhood, where they collected hundreds of pounds of food and monetary donations to benefit the Dublin Food Pantry.
Thank you to the Sawmill Forest Spooky Trail for donating 1,923 lbs of food.
We are also grateful to the young people who collected food for the Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat.
Wendy’s recently held a Canstruction event, where associates built creative structures out of canned goods. After the competition, all cans were donated to the Pantry. We are grateful to the Wendy’s team and to Jim Bender, DFP Board Chair and VP of Global Customer Experience at Wendy’s, for their support.

Coming Soon: Celebrating 50 Years
In 2026, we will kick off our 50th Anniversary Campaign that embodies the spirit of the Dublin Food Pantry. We look forward to celebrating five decades of service and community support.
