Student Volunteering

We are now accepting volunteer applications for the 2018 Summer session.

Learn more...

Student volunteering is for high school students age 16 and older. The Pantry has a dedicated Student Volunteer Coordinator for this purpose that you may contact at:

Announcements

  • The deadline for submitting summer session student volunteer applications has been extended from May 15th to May 30th.

Overview

There are typically three student volunteer sessions per year:

Session Name Start Month End Month
Winter/Spring January May
Summer June August
Fall September December

Each session has an open application period that starts approximately one month before the session begins during which a link to the application form is made available to interested students. It is only during this open application period that applications are accepted.

Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee a volunteer spot because there may be more applications than there are open student volunteer positions.

Submitted applications are processed by the Student Volunteer Coordinator who, at the end of the open application period, sends a decision email to each individual that applied.

Requirements

Student volunteers must meet the following requirements:

  • Student must be 16 years or older.
  • Student must be able to commit to the ENTIRE session, which is typically one day per week for 2.5 hours - holidays excluded.
  • If a student misses more than two days then their involvement may be reviewed. A student should check their calendar for the entire session to ensure there are no sport or extracurricular conflicts. This is in fairness to all who apply as we have limited spots and cannot take everyone.
